Several flea species can attack people, pets or livestock, the most common of which is the cat flea. Despite their name, cat fleas are capable of affecting dogs and cat, an array of other animals including humans. Most flea problems in our region are cat flea infestations. Cat Fleas are small wingless insects approximately 1/16-1/8 inch in length and reddish brown in color. Symptoms of flea infestation include excessive itching, red skin and secondary infections. If you pet is exhibiting symptoms of a flea problem, it is likely that they are hosting cat fleas.
